These guided float trips take place on the upper St. Croix River and the scenic Apple River, both located less than two hours from the Twin Cities. Whether you’re looking to sharpen your fly fishing skills or target aggressive river smallmouth in beautiful surroundings, these trips offer a unique experience for anglers of all skill levels.
The upper St. Croix River provides miles of classic smallmouth habitat with long runs, rocky structure, and countless opportunities to sight-fish and target bass on the fly. These trips are ideal for intermediate to experienced fly anglers looking to improve their river fishing techniques and pursue quality fish in a remote setting.
For anglers seeking a more technical challenge, the Apple River offers tighter, faster-moving water that rewards accurate casting and strong fly presentation skills. This fishery is best suited for experienced fly fishermen who enjoy reading water and making precise casts around current seams, boulders, and structure.

- A guided float trip lasting 6+ hours
- Casting and fly fishing instruction
- Shuttle service

Additionally, if interested in photography, we offer a package deal for an additional $200 per day. You’ll receive professionally edited photos documenting your day on the water.
A Wisconsin or Minnesota fishing license may be required depending on the section of river being fished. Please obtain the appropriate license before your trip to avoid delays on the water.
Deposit:
A 50% deposit is due immediately to hold your confirmed date. The remaining 50% is due at the time of your trip.
Payment:
We accept cash, checks, and credit cards. If you would like to pay by credit card, let us know and we’ll email you an invoice. Checks can be made payable to Hunter Ellstrom Media.
Cancellation Policy:
Your deposit is refundable up to 30 days before your scheduled trip. Exceptions will be made when your guide cancels the trip due to unsafe river or weather conditions.
